In a recent Tampa Bay Times article entitled, “10 tips to help you sleep: Look outside the medicine cabinet“, health writer Bob Clark from Belleair, Florida points out that Americans are using 60 million prescriptions for sleep-inducing drugs at a cost of $7 billion a year.
But it’s not doing the trick. He says, “Sleep experts frequently warn that medications might help in the short-run, but they don’t do much to get at the root causes of insomnia” and “improperly used, they can even cause rebound insomnia.”
Clark shares 10 tips beyond the medicine cabinet to help. Some are pretty intuitive, like #2-cut the caffeine. I especially like #9-meditate or pray before you turn in.
